PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Purpose of this role is to be committed to ensuring the safety and security of CPKC employees travelling internationally for business. This role requires assessing risks proactively, planning effectively, and handling threats efficiently to maintain employee safety and security constantly.

This is a 18 month fixed term maternity leave coverage position. This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct detailed security risk assessments of international destinations, considering geopolitical dynamics, local crime rates, health risks, and other factors impacting employee safety
  • Continuously monitor global events using sophisticated security monitoring platforms and open-source intelligence tools, providing real-time mentorship and intervention during crises
  • Develop and implement detailed travel security frameworks and protocols aligned with corporate standards and global guidelines. Develop tailored security plans and emergency response strategies for specific regions and scenarios, adapting strategies based on evolving global security conditions
  • Regularly update and refine travel security policies, procedures, and documentation to address emerging threats, industry advancements, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide real-time security advice, mentorship, and assistance to traveling employees, ensuring continuous situational awareness and response capabilities. Coordinate and deliver pre-travel security briefings and ongoing training to improve employees' awareness, preparedness, and resilience during international assignments
  • Engage proactively with cross-functional teams to embed travel security within the wider company's operational framework
  • Work closely with internal collaborators and external security agencies to ensure timely and effective responses to incidents involving employees abroad
  • Liaise effectively with global security and support teams to ensure travel security is coordinated into broader operational risk management practices
  • Any other Corporate Security duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, International Relations, Risk Management, or a related field. An advanced degree or equivalent experience, along with a professional security certification (CPP, PSP), is highly desirable.
  • At least three years of professional experience in travel security, intelligence analysis, corporate security, or a related role.
  • Strong expertise in geopolitical risk analysis, crisis management, and emergency response protocols.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise security advisories and incident reports.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.
  • Technical proficiency in security-related software, the Microsoft Office Suite, and real-time intelligence platforms
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays to support a 24/7 security operation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a strong dedication to maintaining confidentiality and discretion

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
