Grow your career at one of the most unique sites in Calgary! The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo's catering department is looking for a Banquet Captain to support our front of house team. Our Catering team offers 8 unique venues across 120 acres and we were named Avenue Magazine's 2023 winner for "Best Unique Wedding Venue in Calgary". The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, delivery, and tear down for both internal and external clients including cash closing procedures.

What you will do:
Manage the expectation of the guest from their arrival through to the completion of the catered event
Handle the food and beverage stock for the delivery of catered functions in accordance with the outlined policies and procedures of the organization
Setup furniture, equipment, and décor for catered functions as per the detail provided on the event contract
Deliver food and beverage according to the standards and policies outlined within the organization
Coordinate or direct hourly catering staff for the purpose of delivering catered events following the outlines of Customer Service and Profitability designated by the organization
Completed Catering logs in detail related to the catered event and the delivery of that event
Provide accurate information regarding consumables at a catered function for the purpose of invoicing, to include bar inventory and reconciliation as well as accurate guest counts for catered functions
Assist in ensuring all policies and procedures are followed by catering staff through observing and reporting policy violations immediately to either the Catering Manager or Assistant Managers
What you will bring:
1 to 2 years' experience in food and beverage
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
ProServe Certification is required
Friendly, outgoing personality
Independent worker
Excellent written and verbal communications with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions:
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
Frequent walking and standing for long periods of time required
May be exposed to hazardous cleaning chemicals and supplies, hot food preparation equipment, smoke, and other hazardous conditions common to commercial food preparation areas
Shift work required
Late evenings, weekends, holidays
The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The organization follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is a no smoking environment including vaping.
