The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking temporary, part-time Catering Server to drive excellent customer experiences at each event, whether a wedding, corporate event, Sunday brunch, or a special evening! Catering servers will be responsible for the successful delivery of food and beverages to guests within our full-service catering department, including setting up and tearing down event spaces.

Contract:

  • Start Date: End of April 2025
  • End Date: September 2025

What you will do:

  • Set up, delivery and tear down of all catered events/functions
  • Deliver food and beverage according to the standards and policies outlined within the organization.
  • Prepare beverage orders as needed, answer questions about beverage menu items, and make recommendations upon request
  • Set up furniture, equipment and décor for catered functions as directed by the Banquet Captain
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests
  • Follows all zoo policies and procedures
  • Follow health & safety guidelines including safe food handling procedures

What you will bring:

  • Experience in food & beverage service is preferred
  • Valid ProServe is required
  • Friendly and outgoing towards colleagues and guests
  • Ability to complete work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Labour intensive
  • Frequent walking and standing for long periods of time required
  • May be exposed to hazardous cleaning chemicals and supplies, hot food preparation equipment, smoke, and other hazardous conditions common to commercial food preparation areas.
  • Shift work required including late evenings, weekends, and holidays

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
