We are seeking a Power BI Consultant with a strong background in supply chain management (SCM) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing reporting solutions that create valuable business insights and improve decision-making across our procurement and operations teams.

This role is based in Calgary - if you are not currently residing in Calgary, please specify if you are looking to move.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn the functionality, operation and business process of internal software applications as it pertains to SCM.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to understand their data needs and develop actionable insights.
  • Analyze complex data sets related to inventory, logistics, procurement, and other supply chain functions to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Gather and document requirements, problems, and opportunities for key reporting needs.
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
  • Adhere to IT project management standards and procedures, tracking and documenting the various tasks accordingly.
  • Accommodate evolving requirements, risks and issues while meeting targets within reasonable timelines.
  • Work with both technical and business subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish data pipelines and ensure seamless data integration from various sources.
  • Adopt an Agile approach when executing projects from inception to completion
  • Prepare and release report documentation to guide users through report/dashboard definitions and navigation.
  • Design, develop and deploy ETL solutions to capture data for report/dashboard ingestion.
  • Structure data models, visualize information, and publish analytical dashboards/reports.
  • Write SQL queries and formulate DAX calculations to facilitate data analysis, data sourcing and report development.
  • Perform QA and coordinate solution UAT with stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot dashboard/report issues in a timely fashion and ensure high report/dashboard uptime.
  • Partner with IT and business teams to execute data quality and cleansing exercises.
  • Stay up-to-date with Power BI features and advancements, incorporating them into our reporting solutions.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field is preferred, however, a combination of professional certifications, recognized training and/or experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer, Data Analyst or report developer.
  • Strong background in supply chain processes, including inventory management, demand forecasting, and logistics.
  • 3+ years of experience as a report Developer, with a heavy focus on supply chain analytics.

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years in SQL querying and development spanning stored procedures, functions, views, temporary tables, cursors, linked servers, SQL server agent jobs.
  • ETL experience covering package development, data lineage and auditing, loop containers, dynamic SQL, parameter/variable transmission, integration services catalog. Script tasks and extraction of data using APIs would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M language for Power Query.
  • 5+ years proven experience or recognized training in Power BI report development including data modelling.
  • Exposure to version control tools such as Team Foundation Server and DevOps.
  • 2+ years experience in Agile methodologies, familiarity with scrum practices, experience in project-oriented working environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with the Microsoft BI stack including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
