OEG Sports & Entertainment delivers leading sports, entertainment and other special event programming to fans and patrons in Canada and the United States. OEG owns the 5-time Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers, the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings, the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, and will operate Rogers Place, the new home of the Oilers and Oil Kings in downtown Edmonton. OEG also owns and operates one of Canada's most accomplished television, event, and brand-promotion companies and has recently added Silver Pictures Entertainment to its growing sports & entertainment business.

About the Role:

Reporting to the VP, Live Entertainment, the Director, Talent Buying - Live Entertainment is responsible for actively contacting and working with prospective artists, agencies, promoters & industry-based events to develop relationships and sales opportunities for OEG Sports & Entertainment. The Director, Live Entertainment will work closely with several internal departments to drive revenue through the creation and delivery of new event opportunities.

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Identify, create, develop new revenue generating opportunities for OEGSE consideration; targeting events that help establish OEGSE on a national and international forum.
  • Find ways to maximize revenue opportunities within all OEGSE events in Rogers Place and ICE District
  • Create and grow a list to target artists and acts suitable to the OEGSE booking philosophy.
  • Develop relationships with organizers on a civic and provincial level like City of Edmonton Event Attraction teams, Explore Edmonton, Hotel Association (EDMH) and Conferences to drive content for Rogers Place, and ICE District. In addition, meet with these leads to look for potential opportunities for OEGSE.
  • Work with the Booking Specialist to fill potential revenue generating dates and create community fulfillment or City of Edmonton event opportunities.
  • Oversee the general production of events with OEG Event Operations team and the OEGSE Ticketing Operations team. Liaise with shared services on branding, marketing and promotions of events at OEGSE properties.
  • Liaise with the event operations team on budgets, logistics, and event production
  • Create Executive summaries of the local entertainment scene to include club, smaller venues and festivals.
  • Execute legal documents for venue agreements, insurance, cost estimates and Proformas.
  • Execute venue settlements with OEGSE finance department
  • Confirming agreements with VP of Live Entertainment, and relaying information to client, prior to handing off event to an Event Manager.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • 5-7 years' experience within the Live Entertainment industry; specifically, event sales in a large facility/arena/stadium.
  • Post-secondary Certificate, Diploma or Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experienced in financials, budgets and the development of Proformas
  • Experience working in a Hospitality environment will be considered an asset
  • Event booking and logistics of events experience required.
  • Strong understanding of the Live Entertainment industry, namely promoters, agencies and its trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and close deals.
  • A fan service approach to working with clients, awareness and responsiveness to client satisfaction.
  • Proven to perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must show very strong listening and communication skills.
  • Organized, independent and a creative self-starter, driven by results.
  • Strong administrative background with the ability to use MS Office Suite and Outlook Mail.
  • Proficient in drafting professional documents, contracts, and professional correspondence.
