The hours vary:

June 2025 to August 2025: 35 hours per week

Monday through Friday; 8:00am - 4:00pm or based on operational needs and availability.

May occasionally include evenings and weekends.

As part of the International and Intercultural Community Centre (IICC), the International Engagement Assistant supports student learning and development by creating a friendly, safe, and healthy community for international and newcomer students. Reporting to the International Engagement Coordinator, the International Engagement Assistant supports International Students in their journey of cultural transition to Canada and NAIT.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the required timeline to provide administrative support and assist in organizing and delivering events/programs to foster a positive student community.

  • Assist with recruitment, training, communication, briefing, and service hour tracking of the IICC volunteers.

  • Facilitate low-complexity student events and student meetings.

  • Perform data entries that support the International Engagement portfolio.

  • Develop and distribute event promotion graphics and materials.

  • Support the implementation of social media plan for international community engagement; this includes creating social media posts, stories, and video takeovers to drive engagement.

  • Connect students to different services at NAIT when appropriate.

  • Support front desk coverage at the IICC as needed. Duties and tasks during front desk coverage may include answering and triaging inquiries, directing students to different service areas, tracking inquiries, and performing other front desk tasks as needed.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in student community events and program planning and support.

  • Demonstrated strong student leadership, organizational skills, time management skills, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated NAIT campus involvement and understanding of international student experience and needs.

  • Demonstrated intercultural understanding and awareness.

  • Familiarity with using ookslife.ca, Asana, Canva, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams is an asset.

  • Ability to engage with peers in a community space and digitally on social media.

  • Ability to facilitate low-complexity student conversations and events.

  • A good understanding of the various student services at NAIT is an asset.


Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12.

  • Some related experience.

  • Currently enrolled at NAIT as a student and will be enrolled in the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 semesters: be in good academic standing.

  • Equivalences may be considered.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $19.02 - $24.74 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation accrual. (Classification - Administrative Support lI).

This casual opportunity is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
