The NAIT Athletics & Recreation Department is seeking applicants for the Athletics Operations Supervisor position. This is a full-time permanent AUPE position.

Reporting to the Recreation & Facilities Manager, the Recreation Supervisor will lead a small team of coordinators while working closely with area leaders to provide strategic direction for the department. The successful candidate will work closely with area leaders to provide strategic direction for the department and will play a key role in enhancing the NAIT student experience by developing and fostering recreational opportunities. They will also act as a liaison with relevant Professional Associations and external user groups to maintain and grow partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise (2) full-time AUPE Recreation Coordinators

  • Oversee all NAIT Athletics & Recreation Camps

  • Member of the Athletics & Recreation leadership team.

  • Provide strategic direction for student recreation at NAIT.

  • Establish work goals and objectives for staff that align with those of NAIT and Students & Campus Life

  • Ensure that training and development opportunities are available and encouraged for full-time staff

  • Represent department on Students and Campus Life committees

  • Responsible for all recruitment and training of staff within the business unit

  • Agency supervisor for department student practicum opportunities

Recreation Operations

  • Assist with the planning and execution of large-scale recreation initiatives

  • Support engagement and data collection from NAIT students to drive success recreation programming

  • Continual research and exploration of recreation and well-being best practices within post-secondary environments

  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences

  • Physical stamina to participate in training programs and practices is recommended

Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary diploma, Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within recreation/athletics/sport facilities

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience of full time staff

  • Valid driver's license

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $67,738.32 - $91,093.60 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Coordinator II).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
