Heavy Duty Equipment Apprentice

Working with a phenomenal team. you work closely with all Operations teams to use your knowledge and experience as 3rd year Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice . (Must have school complete for second year)
You will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible to maintain mobile and stationary equipment at Nakiska Ski Resort, including snow cats, winch cats, snowmobiles, ATV's, Heavy equipment and fleet vehicles. The Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice will be familiar with generators, hydrostatic and hyraulic systems, diagnose vehicle eletrical problems, and adjust, replace or repair defective components.

You Will:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure performance, safety and longevity of the equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing large heavy duty machinery / vehicles (snowcat groomers, front end loarders)
  • Execute all elements of the preventative maintenance programs (daily, weekly and monthly)
  • Ensure high quality, friendly and cooperative relationship with other mountain departments, communicating effectively regarding maintenance
  • Keep work area safe and clean
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Follow established company systems and standards of vehicle maintenance
  • To adhere to the rules and regulations outlined in the Employee Handbook, RCR Policy and Safety Management program.

You:

  • Have complete school to 2nd level Heavy Duty Mechanic License
  • Previous ski industry snow cat maintenance experience is an asset
  • Are self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and high level of attention to detail
  • Possess excellent organization, time management and communication skills
  • Are able to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Are able to occasionally lift and carry 44lbs / 20kgs.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, squat and stretch to fulfill duties.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full time year round position
  • Summer months work is on a compressed work week (4 days- 10 hours) End of April - October. October- April are 8 hours, 5 days per week.
