The Role:

We are looking for an excellent team player. You will have a strong ability to communicate with all departments. You will play an active role in the training of all new employees within the stewarding department. As Chief Steward you will be responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance of all back-of-house areas, particularly the kitchen and food & beverage (F&B) service areas, including inventory control. This role ensures that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes are properly cleaned and sanitized while also managing the stewarding team and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Job Duties:

Reporting to the Executive Chef the primary responsibilities are:

- Responsible for payroll administration and inventory management.
- Oversees dishwashing operations and ensures proper equipment maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Supports the collection and preparation of equipment and china for banquet functions.
- Lead and monitor all ordering of all chemicals required for the operation ensures proper usage and safety protocols are followed.
- Coordinate the schedule for the department.
- Ensure productivity levels and budget guidelines are consistently met and improved.
- You will play an active role in the recruiting, training, and orientation of all new employees in the department.
- Develop and uphold departmental goals to minimize accidents and breakage, while ensuring high standards of cleanliness, productivity, and employee morale.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of dishwashing machines, pot washers, and other equipment.

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

- Experience in stewarding or kitchen operations, preferably in a hotel or high-volume restaurant.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Provide continuous feedback to members of the stewarding department through reviews, 1 on 1's and performance management
- You will have working knowledge of WHMIS and its proper use pertained to the stewarding and hotel operations.
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding staff is highly beneficial.
- Have strong attention to detail.
- Able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Experienced leader with a strong ability to collaborate across departments.

Top candidates will possess experience leading and organizing staff in a similar capacity, and the ability to work well under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
