The student will play a crucial role in providing technical support to both engineering and operations teams, with a focus on facility modifications, equipment installations, and system design. This role offers a comprehensive learning experience, allowing the student to apply engineering principles in real-world projects while gaining hands-on experience in project management, design coordination, and construction oversight. The student will collaborate with experienced engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical support for facility modifications, equipment installations, and system upgrades, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical and piping systems, as well as the creation and modification of engineering documents and work packages.

  • Contribute to the planning and management of engineering projects, including developing project scopes, timelines, and budgets.

  • Conduct field verifications and gather data to support project planning, risk management, and process improvements.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project deliverables are met and assist in resolving any issues that arise during project execution.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).

  • Available to begin work in May 2025.

  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, with a focus on system design and facility operations.

  • Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and regulations in engineering tasks.

  • Basic skills in managing project tasks, including cost estimation, scheduling, and reporting.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.

  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a master's or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.

  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

  • Preference will be given to 3rd or 4th year.

Working Conditions

  • May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

  • This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
