Possible Placement:
Project Engineering: The student will work with the project engineering and program management team to ensure project deliverables meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards. They will serve as a primary interface between engineering consultants and Cenovus stakeholders.
Facilities Engineering: The student will provide on-site technical support to the Maintenance and Operations teams, focusing on facility changes, equipment installations, and repairs. They will also play a key role in scoping mechanical projects and supporting field operations.
Maintenance & Reliability Engineering: This role will support the Maintenance Readiness team at Cenovus's Lloydminster facilities. This role focuses on asset management for Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil assets, involving project development, asset criticality review, and data management.

What you'll do
Project Engineering
Oversee and handle Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) for technical accuracy and compliance.
Serve as the primary interface between engineering consultants and Cenovus stakeholders.
Clarify project scope, resolve technical queries, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
Coordinate with construction, operations, and maintenance teams to address technical specifications.
Facilities Engineering
Provide on-site technical support to maintenance and operations teams for facility changes and repairs
Design piping and mechanical systems following industry standards and codes
Develop and update mechanical engineering work packages, including creating and modifying engineering drawings.
Perform field validations to ensure the accuracy of technical documents and verify project specifications.
Maintenance & Reliability Engineering
Review Management of Change (MOC) documents and update SAP data.
Maintain and update criticality, Bill of Materials, and equipment master data.
Document and update meeting minutes and monthly reports and facilitate weekly team meetings.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
Available to begin work in May 2025.
Basic understanding of engineering principles, with a focus on system design and facility operations.
Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and regulations in engineering tasks.
Basic skills in managing project tasks, including cost estimation, scheduling, and reporting.
Education
Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of the intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
Candidates currently enrolled in either a master's or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
Preference will be given to 3rd or 4th year.
Working Conditions
May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
Safety Sensitive
This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
