Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc. is seeking a self-motivated individual with strong mechanical aptitude to join our team as an Apprentice Mechanic at Fernie Alpine Resort. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to begin or further their career in mechanics while enjoying the benefits of working in a world-class mountain resort environment. Some of the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Duties:
• Ensure personal safety and the safety of others, including staff and guests.
• Work alongside experienced mechanics in planned and unplanned repairs and maintenance.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Support the department's primary focus on safety for guests and employees.
• Maintain the resort's vehicle fleet, including snow cats, heavy machinery, trucks, and snowmobiles.
• Execute all aspects of preventative maintenance programs (daily, weekly, and monthly).
• Follow and adhere to company systems and standards for vehicle maintenance.
• Participate in the use of CMMS planning software.
• Attend required post-secondary training courses as part of your apprenticeship.
• Adhere to the policies outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook, RCR Policy, and Safety/Injury Management Program.
Qualifications:
• No previous mechanic training is required—this is a new apprenticeship role.
• A strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment is an asset.
• Previous mechanical, small engine repair, or fabrication experience is an asset.
