Job Description:

Reporting to the Housing Manager, this role will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operation runs smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will be required to work on established projects and assist with the maintenance and repairs to the internal and external structure of the staff residence buildings and lodges. The successful candidate must possess mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.

The position is based at the Great Divide Lodge, which in the winter functions as staff housing, it is located at the summit of the famous Kicking Horse Pass in Yoho National Park. The site overlooks the Canadian Rockies and Wapta Lake.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair and maintain lodge systems and components
  • Adhere to OH&S responsibility and requirements of the lodge and to observe and report any potential safety hazards.
  • Active involvement in the routine and non-routine maintenance as well as upgrades to all lodges and buildings, this involves a considerable amount of outdoor tasks.
  • To assist in preventative maintenance and accurate record keeping of routine and non-routine inspections, maintenance, and projects
  • Follow work orders and projects
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Contribute to the renovation and refurbishment of different locations.
  • Work as a team member and mentor junior carpenters as required.
  • To maintain work area in safe, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Responsible in helping to maintain record keeping and reporting of equipment status.
  • Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required, and the work does not exceed own limitations.
  • All other responsibilities as required

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's license (or international equivalent) with clean driving record (abstract/traffic history report must be provided during the interview process)
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as a team
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Adhere to OH&S responsibility and requirements
  • Follow all LLSR policies and procedures
  • Complete other tasks as assigned
  • A three-month probationary period applies
  • A police background check, from your home country or province, will be required upon commencement of employment

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman ticket with strong trade skills
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and an ability to meet timelines and changing priorities.
  • A friendly and professional manner
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • First aid certificate an asset

Work Schedule:

7:00am - 5:30pm
