Description

This position exists to support the Community and Family Service Center and the Northern Center of Hope with food pick-ups and deliveries. The position also supports the Ministry Unit with asset management related to program vehicles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Driver provides daily pick-up and delivery services to donors, clients & customers by exercising safe and careful driving and material handling procedures.
  • Ensures the safe and careful handling of all deliveries, donations, kettle & other funds while protecting property, including donations & vehicles.
  • Loads and unloads goods at the warehouse, destinations, and other storage facilities.
  • Takes responsibility for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of vehicles, & records of such.
  • Provides customers and donors with courteous and diplomatic service.
  • Maintains knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts.
  • Performs circle checks of vehicles and maintains vehicle logs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as facility maintenance and custodial support.

CASUAL AVAILABILITY AS PER COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT:

Casual employees must provide availability for 16 shifts per month.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid class 5 Drivers License with clean abstract.
  • Completion of high school. Any specialized training or experience would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to sustain the daily routine of moderate to heavy lifting, reaching and bending.
  • Adaptability to changes and interruptions in normal work routine.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding guest and customer operations.
  • Willingness to work with individuals from differing backgrounds/cultures.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our required Health and Safety training.
