Accountabilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities/operations of the Operations Administrator, Grooming/Snowmaking, Security, Shipping & Receiving, Staff Shuttle, Slope Maintenance and Grizzly Bear Refuge teams.
  • Assist the Facilities, Vehicle and Lift Maintenance team along with the Lift Operations Team.
  • Stay current with OH&S regulations such as WorkSafeBC, Public Health Orders, etc.
  • Maintain effective inter-departmental communications across the resort.
  • This role is a champion in employee relations and conflict management.
  • Ensure that direct reports have goals and objectives set out on an annual basis.
  • Foster an environment that cultivates professional development, high morale and teamwork.
  • Ensure safety of guests and employees through effective training and adherence to company policies and procedures and various government codes and regulations.
  • Active participation in resorts Occupational Health and Safety program.
  • Continuously train and monitor teams to ensure the safety of our guests.
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required.
  • Demonstrate financial growth through the development and execution of business planning, operating and capital budgets associated with the respective units.
  • Lead in identification and correction of risk management issues for both guests and employees in operational divisions.
  • Clearly describe, assign and delegate responsibility within the direct reports.
  • Hire, train, retain and develop quality staff.
  • Evaluate team and provide productive performance feedback and progressive correction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Previous resort experience.
  • Very familiar with the KHMR terrain and various offerings.
  • Working knowledge of lift operating systems.
  • Certified Aerial and surface operator from Technical Safety BC.
  • Must hold a current valid driver's license.
  • Advanced level of ski capabilities.
  • Previous holding of OFA or OEC level 3 first aid ticket.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Z-98 codes.
  • Knowledge of snow grooming equipment, operations and standards.
  • Knowledge of sustainable slopes environment, forestry and government regulations.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • May be exposed to severe weather conditions on resort (snow, cold, wind, sun).
  • Ability to travel (<10%) as needed.
  • This role is a manager as defined by the Employment Standards Act of BC and thus is not eligible for overtime pay.
