Job Description: Assistant Food & Beverage Operations Manager

Location: Big White Ski Resort Ltd. Position

Type: Full Time Year Round (FTYR)

Reports To: Food & Beverage Operations Manager & Director of Hospitality

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 per year

Start Date: May 1st, 2025

Position Overview: Big White Ski Resort Ltd. is seeking an organized and motivated individual to join our Food & Beverage team as the Assistant Food & Beverage Operations Manager. This full-time, year-round position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-energy mountain resort environment. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager and the Director of Hospitality, the Assistant F&B Operations Manager will play a key role in managing operations, staff, and maintaining excellent standards of service across all F&B venues.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting & Auditing:
• Audit reports to ensure accuracy in sales and category information.
• Generate and submit weekly sales reports.
• Update and manage menus as required.
• Generate and review weekly labour reports. Track labour costs and assist in maintaining labour efficiency across F&B outlets.
Recruitment & Training:
• Oversee Winter and Summer teammate recruitment efforts, including recruiting a large number of Winter team members and a smaller Summer team.
• Screen candidates, schedule and conduct interviews, and complete reference checks.
• Coordinate communication with new teammates before their first day, ensuring a smooth transition to the resort.
• Creation and implementation of Teammate Orientation and Onboarding programming
• Manage uniform and name tag orders for Winter and Summer teams.
• Collect and organize required certifications and training documentation.
• Complete termination forms and assist with end-of-season tasks.
Menus & Costing:
• Update pricing guides for various beverage and food categories on an annual basis.
• Develop, cost, and promote special menus and offerings; ensure updates in the POS system.
• Create and update promotional materials to communicate key menu items and offers.
Events & Function Support:
• Attend weekly meetings with the events team to ensure smooth communication and planning.
• On the floor support of event setup and execution, ensuring that all standards and timelines are met before, during, and after functions.

Summer Duties:
• Assist with team scheduling, ensuring proper staffing levels for peak operations.
• Provide on-the-floor support, including serving, clearing, running food, bartending, and expo duties.
• Manage orders for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as other supplies for various outlets.
• Coordinate special event series, including logistics and inventory.
• Other duties as required

Daily Duties:
• Overseeing daily operations, while providing support and leadership to all food and beverage outlets, including building operations, maintenance, safety and liability
• Assist with on the job training for team leaders and general team members
• Strongly involved in the SWP& SJP training making sure that the staff are adhering to these standards.
• Strong knowledge of BC liquor compliancy with Food Primary Licenses and ability to foster a culture of compliance with all team members

Working Conditions:
• Able to work long hours and expected to work overtime in busy periods and holidays
• Be on feet for extended periods of time
• Able to Lift 20lbs and bend and push repeatedly
• Hospitality training an asset

Qualifications:
• Previous experience in food and beverage management or a similar role in a fast-paced, resort environment.
• Valid Serving it Right Certification
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Toast POS systems and Optimum Control inventory management tools is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly in managing inventory and reports.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
