Detailed Overview

Performs a variety of duties within the food service operation such as portioning and serving meals; washing and peeling vegetables and fruits; preparing items such as tea, coffee, salads, toast; washing dishes, utensils and equipment; cleaning kitchen area and maintaining Food Safe standards.
Responsibilities

  1. Prepares a variety of food items and beverages such as salads, toast and juices in accordance with standardized procedures by combining, mixing and/or blending ingredients; measures, mixes, grates and/or blends food ingredients.
  2. Assists Cooks by performing duties such as washing, peeling, slicing, and storing vegetables and fruit.
  3. Sets up the serving line for meal service including condiments, utensils, portioned desserts, salad bar, coffee and juice.
  4. Portions and serves food and beverages.
  5. Delivers food items from storage areas to work areas; removes food items from packaging and stores in designated area ensuring stock rotation.
  6. Assembles and delivers meal service for meetings.
  7. Strips racks and washes items such as dishes, pots, pans and utensils; operates dish washing machine, stacks clean dishes and utensils in accordance with Food Safe Standards. �/2
  8. Performs cleaning duties such as cleaning food preparation equipment, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning sinks and counters, cleaning kitchen and storage areas such as walls, ovens, and freezers, and removing garbage.
  9. Operates related equipment such as dish machine, toaster and reports damaged or non-operable equipment to Cook or Manager, Food Services.
  10. Compiles quality assurance data as instructed by Manager, Food Services.
  11. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Grade 10 plus six (6) months' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Successful completion of Foodsafe course.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
