JOB SUMMARY

As a Gardener you will maintain the overall health and appearance of the many gardens across the property of Grouse Mountain. This includes an array of garden types - vegetable, herb, pollinator and local fauna and flora. Other tasks include but are not limited to lawn care, path maintenance and cultivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Planting and maintaining gardens
  • Transporting tools and materials around the mountain and the base of the mountain
  • Weeding, trimming and lawn mowing
  • Assisting Mountain Crew with various jobs
  • Landscaping including; laying turf, shoveling soil, seeding and haying lawns and ski runs, etc.
  • Maintaining dead head flowers and planting bulbs
  • Ensuring safe operation of vehicles
  • Weeding and rock picking gardens
  • Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the Duty Managers and does not require any direct supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in gardening and landscaping required
  • Experience in the safe and efficient operation of various tools such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Flexible schedule with ability to start as early as 5:30am when necessary

WORKING CONDITIONS

Gardeners perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$18.66/hour to $21.82/hour
