JOB SUMMARY

As a Gardening Supervisor you will work alongside your team to maintain the overall health and appearance of the many gardens across the property of Grouse Mountain. This will include an array of garden types including vegetable, herb, pollinator and local flora and fauna. Other tasks include but are not limited to lawn care, path maintenance and cultivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Planning for planting and maintaining gardens, keeping within a pre-determined budget
  • Overseeing and managing a crew of gardeners
  • Scheduling daily tasks and breaks
  • Ordering and purchasing plants for various projects
  • Developing landscaping plans
  • Working side by side with a crew of gardeners, assisting with tasks
  • Ensuring safe operation of vehicles
  • Training staff on power tools and vehicles
  • Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly provides supervision for the gardeners and other roles which support the gardening team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

  • Previous experience in gardening or landscaping
  • Experience using power tools such as lawnmowers and weed trimmers
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work shifts as early as 5:30am when required
  • Previous experience in a supervisory position an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$21.62/hour to $25.28/hour
