Job Summary

As a Mountain Bike Mechanic, you are responsible for the assembly, maintenance and repair of all Grouse Mountain rental bikes and fleet bikes, as well as customer bike repairs. Working alongside the Rental Team, you will help ensure both a safe and successful time on the trails for everyone.

Essential Job Functions

  • Cleaning and inspecting all bikes prior to servicing or repair.
  • Providing information and quotes to customers about options available, and processing payment through Siriusware POS system.
  • Complete servicing and repairs to brakes, drivetrain and wheels, as well as basic suspension maintenance to the highest standard, in accordance to the workshop form provided with each bike.
  • Meeting safety and manufacturer guidelines for all adjustments, fittings, and repairs at all times.
  • Complete a safety check on all bikes, prior to returning bike to use after servicing.
  • Ensuring all workspaces are kept clean, organized and safe at all times.
  • Keeping track of shop tools and spare parts inventory for fleet and customer equipment, and assist in preparing orders as required.
  • Complete daily opening and closing duties of the workshop/department.
  • Handling cash and ensuring accounting procedures are followed including daily cash outs and float reconciliation.
  • Developing and maintaining outstanding customer relations with internal and external guests, including responding to customer comments and concerns while displaying a Guest Obsessed attitude at all times to achieve high Net Promoter Score.
  • Research and participate in professional development opportunities to expand repair knowledge through peer learning and industry programming.
  • Building of new bikes seasonally in conjunction with the Rental team.
  • Assist Rental team with outfitting and customer rental bike setup when necessary.
  • Engaging with the supervisory and management team, demonstrating proactive, positive, and effective communication to facilitate and support teamwork and cooperation.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position reports directly to the Manager, Rentals and Mountain Adventures. No direct supervisory responsibilities are given.

Required Qualifications and Abilities

  • At least 2 years previous experience as a bike mechanic required.
  • An avid mountain biker, with plenty of riding experience is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of bikes, bike maintenance and repair tools.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills through a strong work ethic, innovative thinking, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests in English in a respectful and enthusiastic manner by email, over the telephone and in person.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and safety.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and work amongst a team in a high-volume, challenging environment.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, and experience with Siriusware system an asset, including cash handling and cash-out procedures.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week regularly, including daytime and evening shifts.
  • Limited time off is available during the peak season, and is only given on a first come, first serve basis.

Working Conditions

Hours of Operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting and other forms of manual tasks.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting from $20.57 up to $24.06, based on experience.
