JOB SUMMARY

Our Bike Park Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all heavy-duty machinery in the Bike Park to shape, construct and maintain our trails. With knowledge regarding safety guidelines, environmental best practices and industry standards you will work with our Mountain Operations and Bike Park teams to ensure the success and ongoing development of our Bike Park trails.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate excavators, skid steers and other heavy equipment to construct and maintain mountain bike trails
  • Shape terrain to create sustainable, rider-friendly features such as berms, jumps, drops and rock gardens
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Collaborate with the trail building team to develop high-quality trails that meet industry standards
  • Assess and repair trail damage caused by weather, erosion and heavy use
  • Follow safety guidelines and environmental best practices to minimize impact on natural surroundings
  • Assist in manual labour tasks including raking, tamping and finishing trail surfaces as needed
  • Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports to the Managers, Mountain Operations and does not require any direct supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience operating excavators, skid steers, and other heavy-duty equipment in off-road environments
  • Knowledge of trail-building techniques and best practices for suitable trail design
  • Ability to work in a rugged, outdoor environment in various weather conditions
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and proper equipment maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for mountain biking and outdoor recreation is a plus!

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in trail construction or maintenance
  • Certifications in heavy equipment operation or workplace safety (e.g., OSHA, WHIMIS, First Aid)
  • Experience working in mountainous or forested terrain

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$24.07 to $28.30/hour
