Job Summary:

The Bike Park Manager's responsibilities include managing and coordinating all park activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of park visitors, as well as promoting the park and its activities. Our ideal candidate is someone with a passion for biking, outdoor recreation, professional trail building experience and customer service. They manage staff, coordinate maintenance of trails and facilities, and implement safety protocols. They also handle budgeting, scheduling, and event planning, including races and community events. The manager liaises with local authorities and sponsors, promotes the park through marketing efforts, and addresses customer feedback. Additionally, they ensure compliance with environmental and legal regulations, and work to enhance the park's amenities and services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the bike park, with strong leadership, and a positive and cooperative approach towards the team.
  • Responsible for the efficient planning and coordinating of trail maintenance and construction and related work assignments.
  • Responsible for ensuring bike park patrol duties are carried out effectively including but not limited to:
  • Handling and recording of all accident information forms and to insure the accurate and timely delivery of information the Safety Manager.
  • Marking, signing, opening and closing all biking trails in accordance to the standards set out in the Bike Park.
  • To carry out the daily opening and closing procedures as they are laid out in the Bike Park.
  • To ensure safe trail conditions are met for all guests and staff.
  • Administer First Aid in the Bike Park for staff and guests
  • To work in conjunction with the guide/coach staff of the Grouse Bike Park
  • Increasing Mountain Bike Safety Awareness by patrolling the Bike Park on a daily basis.
  • Perform lift evacuations as required
  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest's expectations and to provide them with a safe and fun mountain bike recreation experience.
  • Manage the park's budget and financial activities
  • Manage staff hiring, training, and scheduling
  • Develop and implement park policies and procedures and is vigilant of and corrects unusual or unsafe situations anywhere on Grouse Mountain Resort.
  • Understanding the risk while employing staff who ride mountain bikes for work, and ensuring staff assignments on bikes have a work purpose and are safely within the ability of the employee.
  • Conduct New and Young workers training to all staff and assure completion before they start work.
  • Ensure safety of all staff by conducting training for all equipment and tasks, regular recorded safety talks and meetings.
  • Conduct on the job training for all staff whenever new tasks are started.
  • Provide operational support in all areas and respond to emergency, unusual or specific situations with timely manpower and assistance.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with other departments and managers.
  • Shows initiative in handling routine matters and quickly, thoughtful judgment in emergencies.
  • Provide the team recognition when deserved, as well as coaching when needed.
  • Be available to listen to the team, and provide candid feedback.
  • Assist with departmental human resources management, including hiring, disciplinary recommendations, input of payroll in a timely and efficient manner, performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility
Provide direct supervision to bike park staff and trail crew; approximately 8-10 staff members.

Required Qualifications and Abilities

  • Prior experience in bike park management, or related field is highly desirable.
  • Excavator operation experience is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of bike park safety, operations, trail building and maintenance
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent risk management skills with an ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
  • Expert rider capable of riding all the trails of the Grouse Bike Park.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal park regulations
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in recreation management, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Able to interact well within a positive, high-energy team atmosphere.
  • Must be well spoken and able to interact with guests on the front line.
  • Must hold a full and unrestricted valid BC driver's license.
  • Must be a minimum of 19 years old.
  • Required to complete a satisfactory criminal record check

Working Conditions

Will split duties between an office environment and outdoors in all weather conditions. This Bike Manager role is a Full Time position, working an average of 40 hours a week, with shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits

$25.96/hour to $27.40/hour
