To assist with our community ministries with special attention towards seasonal events and campaigns including kettles, Christmas programs, gardening, the fall fair and more

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Seasonal Projects Including (but not limited to)

  • Kettles
    • Assist with recruiting and scheduling of volunteers
    • Schedule pickups
    • Liaise with Kettle locations
  • Christmas support programs
    • Facilitate the registration, scheduling, preparation, and distribution of the Christmas Card program.
    • Maintain up to date statistics through Link2Feed
    • Assist with meeting the reporting requirements through Link2Feed and donation partners
  • Community Food Forest
    • Collaborate with Community Partners and volunteers to maintain the food forest
    • Provide in-scope supervision to volunteers in the project's activities
    • Participate in and assist during garden events
  • Annual Kick Off
    • Ensure TSA participation in Fall Fair (submit registration forms, check requirements, schedule, etc.)
    • Assist with designing booth
    • Schedule volunteers for booth and parade
    • Serve as the key contact for the parade float design/execution

Regular Programming

  • Collaborate with Community Ministries Co-ordinator to ensure effective program delivery. This may include:
    • Café
      • Maintain a safe environment for vulnerable members of the community
      • Ensure that the space is clean
      • Monitor supplies such as laundry soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, harm reduction supplies, coffee, etc.
    • Market
      • Distribute food to members of the community in a dignified way that empowers individuals accessing our services
      • Schedule required appointments for clients
      • Pick up donations from community partners
    • Pathway of Hope
      • Refer clients to POH Caseworker
      • Serve as a member of the support team
  • Workshops
      • Design and implement programs to equip participants
      • Focus on community building and personal transformation
  • Liaise with community partners
  • Schedule volunteers
  • Perform other work-related duties as required

This position will involve working in our community ministries building both inside and out. During kettle season there will be a need to drive around Salmon Arm to various kettle locations on an as needed basis.

We regularly serve clients who are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. This can impair their judgment and make them difficult to support.

On occasion you will have to respond to angry people or need to shutdown inappropriate behaviour.

This job may occasionally require reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a sitting, and standing position for periods of time, and lifting up to 20 lbs with no assistance from others or up to 50lbs with assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of two academic years
  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
  • First Aid and NVCI an asset (would arrange for training for the successful applicant if necessary)

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Comfortable using and maintaining a digital database
  • Knowledge and skill in social media platforms and management
  • Experience in event planning

HOURS: 25 hours

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
