Position: Assistant Manager, Retail Warehouse

Department: Retail Operations

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Retail Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Manager, Retail Warehouse, is responsible for overseeing all shipments and purchase orders, managing the receiving and transferring of products to all Canucks store locations, implementing inventory control procedures, and monitoring overall inventory shrinkage. This role will evaluate daily warehouse operations, provide training, and explore new business opportunities. The incumbent will work on event nights and weekends as required, to provide necessary support to the business.

This role will focus on:

  • Overseeing all warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing merchandise to all retail locations
  • Managing inventory control processes to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize shrinkage
  • Coordinating with Director, Merchandise to track and manage incoming shipments and ensure timely replenishment of stock
  • Leading, training, and supervising warehouse staff, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Developing and implementing efficient warehouse processes and procedures to optimize workflow and productivity
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment; ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Collaborating with retail managers to meet inventory needs and support retail promotions and events
  • Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators related to warehouse operations
  • Managing warehouse budget and control expenses within established guidelines; preparing reports related to inventory management and control, including management of twice-yearly inventory count processes and procedures
  • Overseeing the maintenance and repair of all warehouse equipment
  • Ensuring replenishment orders are ready to ship in time for games and assist with distribution (some driving may be necessary)
  • Acting as manager on duty on event nights at Rogers Arena when required
  • Assisting the receiving team with stickering and boxing up products as needed, particularly during peak periods

YOU HAVE:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in logistics, warehouse management or a related discipline
  • At least five years of directly related experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience
  • Forklift operation certification and Class 5 Driver's License
  • Excellent knowledge of the retail industry, with a sporting goods background preferred
  • Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong sense of safe practices and the ability to execute and facilitate proper procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of workflow and physical layout optimization as it relates to warehouse management
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize as projects arise, and ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills to establish cooperative working relationships with a variety of internal and external clients
  • Ability to safely lift more than 35 lbs.
