Department: Facility Operations & Engineering

Reports to: Manager, Housekeeping

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping Crew Leaders are responsible for supervising part-time housekeeping staff and ensuring all housekeeping work is completed efficiently and effectively. This is a part-time, hourly, events-based position. Shifts are primarily graveyard shifts from 11:00pm to 7:00am.

A typical shift includes:

  • Directing, leading, and working with pre/post event housekeeping staff, ensuring work is performed in the safest and most efficient manner possible, and within time deadlines
  • Coordinating work duties and materials for pre/post-event housekeeping staff
  • Assisting with on-the-job training as required
  • Maintaining and operating housekeeping equipment
  • Maintaining housekeeping supply room; conducting weekly supply inventory audit
  • Conducting regular safety and quality assurance inspections
  • Providing written reports/status updates at the end of shifts
  • Other duties as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Available to work graveyard shifts on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Previous experience in a housekeeping role
  • General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and practice and of emergency cleaning procedures
  • Able to work with various cleaning solutions with the appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Physically able to walk up and down stairs, stand for a significant portion of the shift, repetitively bend, twist, reach and lift (up to 35 Ibs.), and use a radio
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence and ability to address a group of staff at briefings
  • Able to present information and instructions in a clear manner
  • Excellent problem solving and crisis management skills
  • Confident, friendly, approachable, outgoing, team player; able to gain the confidence and trust of management, colleagues, direct reports
  • Presence in the form of personal authority and maturity; ability to work independently
  • Housekeeping/Cleaning Certifications; WHMIS Training
  • Training or experience in dealing with persons with disabilities is an asset
  • Fluent in a second or third language in addition to English is an asset
