Main Purpose and Function
The Lead Park Ranger shares a commitment to community and enhancing the park experience for 200+ parks in Vancouver. Parks include green spaces, picnic areas, sports fields and courts, play areas, bike and hiking pathways, facilities, beaches, and nature preserves. The Majority of the work is leading a team of Park Rangers assisting with day to day operations which includes preparing and delivering daily briefings and debriefings, supporting field work as well as assisting with administrative duties as required. The Lead Park Ranger is responsible for supervising the work of Park Rangers, operationalizing plans, and initiatives, assist with developing and delivering training/education sessions, meeting withh stakeholders and aprtners such as bust not limited to City Portective Services, Police, Fire Department, and Community Outreach Representatives on park security and community related matters, conducting incident investigations and particpate in planning acttivies. The Lead Park Ranger leads and participates in the work of a large group of RFT, RFT, and Auxiliary employees; provides advise, information, and direction to park users regarding park regulations, facilities, hazards, natural features, and park conditions; ensures comliance with Park Board by-laws and acts as an escalation point for Park Rangers.
