Role Summary

Ocean Wise is on a mission to redefine responsible seafood through cutting-edge data solutions, transformative technology and AI integration. As we modernize our 20-year-old seafood program, we are building a data-driven platform that digitizes our legacy program and integrates climate and labor metrics, enhancing our eco-labels value and empowering our market partners with actionable insights that guide them towards improved social and environmental decision making in their supply chain. As the Product Manager for the new Ocean Wise Seafood Platform, you will lead the development of a next-generation platform that is central to Ocean Wise's mission of advancing sustainable seafood. You will oversee the design, development, and implementation of a technology solution that connects partners with transparent, data-driven recommendations while streamlining internal workflows.

What You Will Be Doing

Data-Driven Product Strategy

  • Defining and executing a vision for a data-centric platform that integrates advanced metrics (i.e climate, labour, traceability) into Ocean Wise's established program.
  • Aligning platform development with organizational goals, partner needs, and measurable conservation outcomes.

Platform Development and Workflow Automation

  • Leading the modernization of Ocean Wise's legacy seafood program into a digitized platform that automates internal workflows, integrates partner data flows, and streamlines decision-making.
  • Collaborating with IT and tech partners to leverage tools like Salesforce, SQL, and GraphQL APIs for robust data management and visualization.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serving as the bridge between data scientists, engineers, market teams, and external partners to ensure platform features are actionable and aligned with user requirements.
  • Facilitating integration of science-driven metrics with partner-focused functionality to enhance the platform's utility and adoption.

Stakeholder Engagement and Revenue Generation

  • Working closely with partners to ensure the platform meets their ESG and market needs, while driving data transparency and value.
  • Supporting licensing and monetization strategies to position the platform as a revenue-generating asset for Ocean Wise.

Integration of Advanced Metrics

  • Leading the incorporation of climate and labor metrics into platform workflows, creating a holistic tool for sustainable seafood decision-making.
  • Ensuring all metrics and data align with regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in data product management, with a focus on technology solutions for ESG, supply chains, or conservation.
  • Strong technical expertise in SQL and GraphQL APIs, with a demonstrated ability to integrate data flows and automate processes.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, and familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • An AI driven mindset able to stay up to date on what's happening in AI and comfortability with current AI tools available.
  • Analytical mindset, capable of turning complex datasets into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex projects with multiple stakeholders, balancing technical requirements and user needs.
  • Assets include
    • Background in ocean conservation, sustainable supply chains, or climate-focused technology.
    • Experience with metrics frameworks related to supply chain, labor standards, climate impact, or biodiversity.
    • Passion for ocean health and sustainability, with a drive to make a tangible difference.

Success Indicators

  • Successful launch of a scalable, data-driven platform that enhances partner engagement and conservation outcomes.
  • Seamless integration of climate and labor metrics into Ocean Wise's recommendation framework.
  • Positive partner feedback, strong platform adoption, and measurable increases in efficiency.
  • Demonstrated revenue generation within the first 6-8 months of platform deployment.

Where and How You'll Work

Our typical work week is 37.5 hours. This is a remote-first position with the possibility to work at our headquarters in downtown Vancouver, if desired. The role may require flexibility to travel for meetings and/or to work occasional weekends and evenings to attend Ocean Wise shoreline cleanups, events, and conferences. You may be required to drive to various fisheries.

This role involves sitting, standing, working on a computer or laptop, participating in phone and video calls.
