Job Summary:

The Tuning and Repair Assistant Manager role supports the Tuning Manager in the overall day-to-day operations of the Whistler Blackcomb tune, repair and maintenance locations for both winter equipment and summer bikes, including our traditional rental fleet, in addition, to the My Epic Gear fleet. This position is responsible for staff supervision, financial management, and overall store management with an emphasis on safety first. Oversees with direction from the Tuning Manager; hiring, training, coaching and scheduling of store personnel. Responsible for sales generation and growth, inventory control, controllable expenses, loss prevention and shop appearance.

As the Tuning Assistant Manager, this job assists in overseeing the operations of our high-volume tuning centers, managing repairs and tuning being completed on our guest ski, snowboard, bike equipment as well as our traditional ski, snowboard and bike rental fleets, including our My Epic Gear fleet.

Job Specifications:

  • Expected Pay: $52,000 - $58,000 CAD
  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time
  • Skill Level: Advanced

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations, monitoring performance and budget including scheduling and payroll; act as manager-on-duty in the absence of a Store Manager, while coordinating with other departments on tune-repair needs.
  • Adhere to and enforce safety procedures according to policies and standards
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach and maintain a quality core tuning and maintenance centers.
  • Monitor team performance and behavior to provide meaningful feedback and direction, providing recognition or correction action if necessary.
  • Assist in ordering tune shop supplies and maintaining tune shop machinery.
  • Assist in leading a team of up to 35 frontline staff across multiple locations.
  • Participate with leadership forums providing feedback and input on store performance, training, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of team management experience
  • A minimum of 1 year prior ski and snowboard tuning experience or background
  • A minimum of 1 year prior bike maintenance and tuning experience or background
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a truck on roads through adverse winter conditions, in and out of tight alleys and through very busy pedestrian areas
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Work Experience
  • Direct supervisory experience
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
  • Self-Motivated with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-building skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask and manage multiple customers
  • Rental store operation/management experience highly preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Products; Excel, Work, Outlook and Power Point
