The Carberry Shift Supervisor is responsible for coaching, leading, and developing a team. This position will manage the day-to-day operations of the packaging/Process area. The day-to-day responsibilities of a Shift Supervisor include maintaining open lines of communication, various administrative tasks required for their area, and effective utilization and management of raw materials and employee time. The Supervisor ensures uniform application and interpretation of established SOP's, specifications, shift-to-shift consistency, and coordination of employee training. The Supervisor serves as a coach and mentor for the associates in their area. This position will work 12 hour shifts, on a rotating schedule that includes, days, nights, weekends and holidays.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages overall operation of their area. Responsible to lead, guide, support and demonstrate ownership for the assigned area to ensure all targets / standards are met on an hourly, daily and monthly basis including effective utilization and management of raw products
• Personnel management of their team, including but not limited to promptly addressing performance concerns and issuing corrective action as necessary, reduction of turnover and absenteeism, employee recognition, development and training of direct reports, coaching and mentoring of direct reports e.t.c.
• Maintain a safety conscious attitude among direct reports, minimization of all workplace incidents and accidents, and accurate and timely completion of all accident investigation reports. • Administration of the Collective Agreement
• Maintain records and reports to effectively evaluate progress of their team.
• Communicate closely with their Shift Manager to ensure completion of production requirements and that finished product meets quality standards and customer specifications
• Achieve production standards in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining quality and sanitation standards.
• Operate within established quality standards to maintain lowest possible holds or segregation.
• Work closely with Quality Control personnel & Maintenance to ensure smooth operations and ensure system efficiency
• Administrative functions of a supervisory role, such as time keeping, vacation planning, investigation and disciplinary action, taking call-ins and finding replacements, reports preparation and scheduling. etc.
• Support and drive interdepartmental initiatives for Safety, QA, Costing, and H.R & Maintenance
• Take an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training and support other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Other projects/duties as assigned or required.

WHAT QUALITIES ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN CANDIDATES?
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Food Science, Business or a similar field
• 2- 3 years leadership experience
• 1-3 years food or beverage manufacturing experience
• The ability to lead, train and collaborate with others
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Sound fact based decision making and problem solving skills with a focus on delivering results
• Adaptable and flexible team player who is a champion of change
• Ability to work rotating shifts
• Willing to grow and develop for future career opportunities
