JOB PROFILE:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, assists with professional duties consisting of, but not limited to planning, developing, coordinating, implementing all daily routine activities related to the delivery of the day program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the role of the assistant to the Recreation Coordinator in planning, organizing, developing, enforcing rules, evaluating recreation, fitness, and overseeing day to day operations of the facility.
  • Provide personal assistance to participants as necessary, and to perform program tasks accordingly in a professional manner.
  • Actively participate in all programming and assume leadership through facilitation of programming when the Recreation Coordinator is occupied or away.
  • Maintains a high standard of program delivery in a manner consistent with the organization's aims and objectives, and in keeping with advances in current gerontological thinking.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and work together in order to develop team dynamics and group cohesiveness.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job requirements:

  • Completion of certificate/diploma/degree program in Recreation Field or in progress.
  • Related experience in therapeutic recreation provision.
  • Experience working with seniors experiencing cognitive impairments, providing compassionate care, tailored support, and fostering a safe and engaging environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and proficiency in English communication.
  • Current member of a professional organization (e.g., Recreation Connections).
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Lions Housing Centres Inc.

Other Requirements:

  • Practice in a manner supporting the Resident Bill of Rights and Respectful Workplace Policy.
  • Maintain clean and tidy storage areas.
  • Clean up programming areas after each session.
  • Act as a public relations agent for residents, department, and facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager.
