The Opportunity

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the cleaning staff ensures the cleanliness and upkeep of the YMCA facility of Camp Glenburn, both inside and outside. Work involves almost continuous moderate physical effort of lifting, pushing, and carrying of weights over 11 lbs. with occasional heavy physical lifting of objects over 22 lbs. Job involves climbing ladders and walking up and down a steep hill multiple times a day.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Camp Glenburn Staff Team, the Camp Housekeeper will be a positive role model for fellow staff, C.I.T's and campers in every aspect of camp life, being conscious of health, dress, speech, etiquette and relations with others.
  • Provides room set up and take down as required.
  • Ensures that all areas of camp are clean, safe, and well organized.
  • Daily duties could include but are not limited to: sweeping, mopping, wiping down surfaces, raking, moving tables & chairs, refilling cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Assists in routine sanitation procedures of all high touch surfaces.
  • To assist in the indoor and outdoor maintenance of the camp property as directed by the Facility Supervisor.
  • Ensures the safety of all members, property and self by following established Workplace Health and Safety practices and procedures at all times.
  • Monitoring inventory of necessary supplies and reporting to their supervisor when refills are needed.
  • To assist in other Camp operations as requested by the Camp Director.
  • Provides a high standard of customer service to all participants.
  • To strive to ensure that every child who attends Camp Glenburn is treated with respect, understanding, and compassion.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Cleaning experience in commercial establishment;
  • Ability to work almost with moderate physical effort of lifting, pushing, and carrying of weights over 11 lbs. with occasional heavy physical lifting of objects over 22 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and walk up and down a steep hill multiple times a day.
  • WHMIS training an asset;
  • Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, strategic outcomes and values of the YMCA;
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment;
  • Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including days and weekends;
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • First Aid/CPR an asset
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check and Social Development Check
