POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Aquatics Supervisor, you manage staff, develop programs, maintain facilities, ensure safety compliance, and enhance member experiences. You also handle the budget and engage with the community to promote participation at the YMCA of Southwester New Brunswick. In this position, you will be required to be on deck (the pool) and fill in where needed.

As the Aquatics supervisor, you will be required to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends. You will also be supporting our summer camps at our different locations within the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times. This will be done through recruiting, training, supervising aquatics staff and volunteers

· Conduct regular training sessions for lifeguards and instructors and volunteers to maintain high standards of safety and service

· Develop, implement, and oversee aquatic programs for all age groups, including swimming lessons, water aerobics, and safety courses

· Ensure the facility is clean and well-maintained, including locker rooms and common areas

· Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through metrics and KPI's

· Manage the budget for aquatics programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability

· Promote aquatics programs through various marketing channels to boost participation and community engagement

· Handle participant inquiries and deliver excellent member service

· Assist in the setup and teardown of events and activities

· Monitor inventory levels of supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed

· Maintain a front-line presence, providing leadership and guidance to staff in daily operations

· Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations in all program areas

· Maintain accurate records of program participants, schedules, and staff certifications

EXPECTED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model appropriate behaviors to fellow staff, volunteers and members in line with our Mission, Vision and Values and The Y Way
  • Participate in all mandatory trainings and attends all staff meetings in department and within the YMCA.
  • Understands and integrates the value of philanthropy in both specific position and Association, and participate in the Annual Campaign
    and/or other fundraising events.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Post-secondary education or equal experience

· Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications or willing to become certified

· Several years of experience in aquatics, including roles such as lifeguard or instructor

· Previous experience in a supervisory or management role

· Excellent oral and written communication

· Flexible working hours, evenings and weekends with some early morning or daytime shifts.

· Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search

· Successful candidate must have reliable transportation to and from all work locations

· Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build positive relationships with community members

· Strong leadership skills to manage, motivate staff, and adapt schedules efficiently

  • Knowledge of budget management and financial planning
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED; additional certifications in aquatics are a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to multi task and manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

· As a YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick staff person, you are responsible for your own travel to and from work.

· The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick has a Joint Health and Safety Committee which meets on a monthly basis to discuss health and safety within the workplace. Questions or concerns about your workplace must be brought forward to committee members.

· You will be required to supervise multiple activities and members.

· You are responsible for the member's safety on a daily basis. You will be required to perform First Aid and CPR when and if necessary.

· This position will require the staff person to stand for periods of times, sit and crouch while engaging with children on their level.

· You will be responsible to follow and abide by YMCA Canada National Experience Program
