As a daytime line cook at our Refinery in Saint John NB, you will support our company strategy by creating a branded employee experience within the Café. Your goal will be to prepare meats, fish, vegetables, soups, sandwiches, salads and other hot food grill products. You will also prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. You will also be responsible for performing duties in the areas of food preparation and café operations, including cleaning, inventory control, and providing input to build new menus. Your success will ensure a positive customer service experience every time.

Kindly note that this is a Monday to Friday dayshift position.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and clean, and maintain food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, refrigeration, and other kitchen equipment
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock
  • Knows and complies consistently with the cafe’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to support a smooth service period
  • Consult with Café Supervisor to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
  • Closes the kitchen following the closing checklist for kitchen stations and assists others in closing the kitchen
  • Support vacations at our Home Office Café

Your Skills:

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong line work, prep and production experience
  • Excellent time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly energetic attitude

Your Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the food service industry
