Cleans and sanitizes offices, classrooms, and main areas of the building
Empties garbage
Spot cleans carpets and performs general carpet cleaning, as required
Organizes and maintains janitorial supplies in janitorial room(s) and on janitorial carts
Follows established procedures and documentation for inventory tracking
Informs Director of Operations of general repairs and maintenance items required
Works independently or cooperatively with team members to complete tasks on schedule and according to quality standards
Performs laundry of mop, cleaning cloths, aprons
Complies with all prescribed sanitation and building disinfecting protocols
Required to show courtesy to clients and all those on the property of The Salvation Army Ches Penney Centre of Hope
Performs other related duties as assigned
Health and Safety:
Adheres to all health and safety policies and procedures in place; complies with all instructions from the employer concerning health and safety as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workers Compensation
Ensures all procedures, rules and guidelines for the safety and security of clients and staff are enforced and respected
Physical Effort:
Operate industrial cleaning equipment and tools
Mop and sweep (repetitive motions)
Bend and twist
Occasionally carry out stepladder work
Lift more than 20 pounds with assistance
Employment Status: Regular; Full-time; 40 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1-3 years recent housekeeping/cleaning experience preferably with an organization that works with the marginalized population
Current WHMIS training or be willing to take the training upon hire
Non-skid CSA approved safety shoes required
