Job Summary
Athletics and Recreation takes a holistic approach to enhancing the Dalhousie experience by creating and sharing ways to engage and connect students through physical activity and wellness, to contribute to student success. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing, Communications and events, the Coordinator communicates and promotes the activities of the department but not limited to, varsity games, facility services, camps, intramurals and events.
Key Responsibilities

  • Generate effective digital media plans to market events and activities within the department and communicate key information internally and externally.
  • Lead the social media strategy for the department's various channels staying up to date on trends, emerging platforms and best practices. Curate and maintain the athletics.dal.ca website with over 100 pages.
  • Complete market research for the fitness, recreation, intramural and varsity sections of the department, including social listening, research and developing and executing surveys for the students and members to gather feedback on the current activities.
  • Direct graphic design, photography, videography and writing staff to create content for all the plans and activities for the various social media platforms.
  • Plan and evaluate the promotional activities at events, actively coaching the promotion team who are executing the activities, to enhance the fan experience at games and events.
  • Responsible for hiring and training around 50 casual staff. Generate shift schedules and develop staffing plans for events.
Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, sports management or public relations with approximately three to five years' of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Self-starter with strong administration experience and possess the ability to work independently, but thrive in a team environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
