Overall Purpose

As a Java/FileNet Developer, you are responsible for providing design, analysis, programming, deployment and ongoing operational support for new and existing IBM FileNet solution and service as used across Government of Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, develop and implement FileNet solution or enhancements that meet both the functional and technical needs of the organization
  • Ensure effective and efficient availability, deployment and maintenance of FileNet solutions in a manner that meets or exceeds the established level of services
  • Maintain and monitor the solutions, provide support to operations, for the resolution of technically complex incidents and problems
  • Participate in feasibility and business requirements elaboration phases
  • Optimize FileNet ecosystem performance
  • Deliver in the agile and internet-era ways of working

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science plus a minimum of three (3) years' experience or graduation from a recognized Information Technology or Information Management program plus three (3) years and six (6) months of experience (or the equivalent combination of training and experience).

  • Developing with Java, JEE, Javascript, JDBC, CPE API's, ICN plugins, XML, XSLT, Dojo
  • Experience in Application Server: Redhat, WebSphere ND
  • Experience in Databases: Oracle, SQL Server
  • Experience in leading small projects and/or teams
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are required, as well as demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, peers, and management
  • The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities

The following are assets to this position:

  • Hands on experience with FileNet and Content Navigator
  • Good understanding of IBM products such as FileNet Workflow, Process Analyzer, ICC, Records Manager, Datacap
  • Experience in developing and deploying FileNet server-side extensions (Subscriptions, Events)
  • Experience in deploying FileNet based web apps in a WebSphere application server
  • Experience in deploying FileNet assets using FileNet Deployment Manager (FDM)
  • Knowledge of project management methodology, ITIL processes, Records/Information Management and IT Security policies and procedures in Government
