About the Opportunity

The Cafeteria Food Service Worker is responsible for the proper utilization of all products, including stocking, merchandising while following cost control procedures as required for the profitable operation of restaurant services. The Cafeteria Food Service Worker is also responsible for processing of payment. It is expected that all duties are performed in a professional manner and in a collaborative team effort to achieve proper customer service levels and the economic goals and objectives of restaurant services.

Key Work Activities: Percentages of time allocated in the Key Work Activities are dependent upon the site and role they fulfill. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Processing of Payment Methods

Perform cashier function, issuing change when required. Perform reconciliation for cash sales, electronic payment, voucher payment catering billings - daily, weekly, or monthly period. Retrieve coin from and interact with the Business Office. Understand the menu items and follow procedures for proper ringing in of those items. Perform duties as efficiently as possible in the interest of customer service.


Product/Food Preparation/Assembly and Service

Responsible for the placement of products for sale in the appropriate locations throughout any restaurant location. Ensure that appropriate levels of inventory for all products are available to the customer. Follow proper portioning procedures when dealing with any presentation/service of menu items to the customer. Prepare/Portion food i.e., sandwiches/wraps/desserts. Serve daily hot meal special. Prepare food/beverage for caterings.

Sanitation

Ensures that immediate work area is kept clean and organized. When specific duties are assigned, sanitation procedures must be followed for the general cleaning/sanitizing of the server area and dining area. All small wares and equipment must be cleaned/sanitized to an appropriate standard for the customers and co-workers.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent
    • Or demonstrated skills and/or relevant work experience, equivalency must be clearly stated in your cover letter and resume.
    • Demonstrated competency in English and basic Math.
  • Food Safety Training
  • Customer Service Skills considered an asset.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to provide services and achieve departmental and/or organizational goals.
  • Ability to perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively while demonstrating civility and respect.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
