About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Manager, Infectious Disease Prevention & Management the Safety Assistant provides confidential support to the IDMP team. Activities supported include supporting the Occupational Health Nurses during pre-placement health assessment, communicable disease prevention and management and respiratory protection (FIT testing) education and training.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Post-Secondary diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Undergraduate degree is an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills; familiar with enterprise software systems; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Well-developed abilities and skills in modern office practices.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and team skills with emphasis on decision making, problem solving, motivational and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively determine day-to-day priorities and utilize foresight to ensure appropriate activities for self and recommendations for team members.
  • Ability to work effectively during periods of high activity and with varying personality styles and tasks. Demonstrates resilience and maintains effectiveness. Flexible in creating and suggesting alternative solutions to meet goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to effectively meet and communicate in situations requiring tact and poise. Proficiency in drafting detailed procedures, letters, reports, etc.
  • Actively listens and conveys understanding of customers' requests such that their needs can be anticipated and satisfied. Well-developed abilities with respect to problem solving required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$22.34 - $27.93 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
