Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Support the Recreation Program Coordinator and Sr. Department Supervisors with day-to-day work processes to achieve departmental goals.
  • Help to ensure the quality of program delivery by contributing to the successful operation and supervision of Recreation Programs at Glen Eden
  • Facilitate program delivery by providing administrative support to the Recreation Programs team
  • Data management including staff scheduling (adjusting schedules, tracking availability), ensuring payroll accuracy using this information to recommend adjustments to program inventory
  • Tracking program enrollment, development of class lists or program rosters, and creation of other program supporting documents.
  • Support with recruitment and on-boarding of staff
  • Serve as an on-site resource for Recreation Programs staff, including preparation for lessons, set up/take down of equipment, responding to parent questions, comments, and concerns Support sales and fulfilment of walk-up Private Lessons and Discover Ski/Snowboard Program
  • Assist with supervision of recreation programs, including staff training and in-program supervision
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton's Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • College diploma or University Degree in Business Administration or related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience are an asset
  • Experience in sales and data processing
  • A customer service mindset with the ability to think creatively, strong problem solving, and decision-making skills in managing guest interactions and internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with program lesson families, staff and volunteers
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt or adjust plans to accommodate guest needs, weather, or other operational considerations
  • Specialized training, experience, or certification in activities or facilities relating to Recreation Program activities are considered an asset:
    • CASI, CSIA, ACA, CADS
    • Working knowledge of HighFive, OCA, or similar Childrens Programming standards an asset.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, able to multitask and manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office platform, and confident with data processing. Experience working with scheduling and communication software (Dayforce/Sling)
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class "G2", with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
