Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Help to ensure the quality of program delivery by contributing to the successful operation and supervision of Mountain Bike School Programs and Race Series
  • Coordinate pre-program efforts including assisting with launch and set up as required
  • Coordinate staff, activities, and supplies as required by the weekly schedule
  • Serve as an on-site resource for Recreation Programs staff, including preparation for activities, clean up, sanitization of facilities and equipment, first aid, or responding to parent questions, comments, and concerns
  • Provide initial training and on-going mentorship to the staff team throughout the season
  • Work with existing community sponsors and support new relationships with those who have a similar community-based mentality
  • Maintain bike maintenance tool shop inventory
  • Perform Mountain Bike tuning services and repairson rental bike fleet
  • Ensure proper operation of all equipment and maintain a clean work area
  • Assist with the long-term improvement and development of Mountain Bike School Programs and Race Series by working with the Coordinator, Recreation Programs on program content, program development, staff training, etc.
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton's Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a Recreation or Sport setting with strong customer service skills being a focus
  • Working knowledge of PMBIA and/or NCCH teaching/coaching methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Mountain Bike maintenance and upkeep
  • Previous experience with mountain bike/race type events an asset
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong creativity, leadership, and collaboration skills required for mentorship of staff
  • Ability to adapt or adjust program plans to accommodate guest needs, weather, or other operational considerations
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Point of Sale systems
  • Ability to travel to the work site not serviced by public transit
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class "G2", with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
  • Successful candidates will be required to have Standard First Aid and CPR certification prior to first day of employment
