Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation - Aquatics, Leisure and Youth there is an immediate opening for an Aquatics Specialist within the Community Development Division - Recreation & Culture Department.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in an Instructor Guard, previous experience as a Head Instructor is considered an asset.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external customers.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently as required.
Strong commitment to providing quality customer service and supporting teamwork.
Strong organizational skills to deal with fluctuating volumes and pace of work.
Ability to assess, diffuse or take appropriate action when dealing with difficult/challenging situations.
Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook; proficiency in Active Net would be an asset.
A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check will be required as a condition of hire.
High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development
Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED
LSS Instructors & Swim Instructors; NL, Standard First Aid/CPR C.
Additional advanced qualifications will be considered an asset
Must be competent in instructing both Deep and Shallow Aquafit classes.
CALA, Water Art OR aqua fitness certification would be considered an asset.
This position is within Grade 4 of the inside workers union Salary Schedule and has an annual salary range of $52,907 - $56,238.

Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).
The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the CUPE 1882 Inside Worker's Collective Agreement, (35 hours per week), Monday to Sunday, and may be scheduled between 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
