City of Cambridge Summer Camps provide staff with valuable and rewarding experience working with children and youth. Be a part of a team of like-minded peers that make a positive impact on our community while enhancing your leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
At City of Cambridge Camps, you will have the opportunity to be a part of exciting theme weeks and specialty camps including archery, skating, hockey, swimming, gaming, robotics, outdoor education and so much more! Provide an inclusive, safe and fun camp experience for campers to participate in sports, crafts, games, swimming, outdoor fun, and more.
Work as part of a team to support the goals and values of the camp program through quality instruction, excellent customer service, and staff relationships.
Plan and implement activities and provide instruction to meet the needs of all campers.
Provide instruction to camps and ensure planning and preparation for all activities, camp games, and sports related to the camp program are carried out successfully.
Supervise campers and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
Responds to emergencies and behaviour management issues in accordance with procedures.
Adheres to prescribed policies and procedures.
Enjoy working with children; previous experience is an asset.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Actively leads and participates in a wide range of activities including swimming.
Providing administrative support to the Camp Leadership Team as required.
Attendance at all mandatory training, that occurs during evenings and weekends.
Attendance at all mandatory bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours.
Experience and an eagerness to work with children as well as strong leadership, communication and decision-making abilities.

High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development
Safeguard Training (or willingness to obtain as a condition of offer)
The hourly rate of pay for this position is $17.20.

Up to 40 hours per week *hours dependent on weekly registrations at location*
Mandatory training between May 1 - June 29
Camp starts on Monday June 30 and ends on Friday August 29
Camp does not run on July 1 (Canada Day) or August 4 (Civic Holiday)
Mandatory paid training dates/sessions will occur in May/June and mandatory weekly evening staff meetings in July and August, as scheduled by the Recreation Coordinator. Please note that training dates are subject to change.
