JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining proper security at the facility. Liaises between Woodbine Entertainment Security and other departments. Supervision of building protection and security, protects funds moving between the stable area and grandstand. Preparations of schedules, work details, and payrolls.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructs employees with regard to work methods, duties and procedures.
- Adjusts workloads and procedures to cope with changes in personnel and quality
of work
- Schedules leaves for employees and deployment of employees.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Administrative Responsibilities
- Reviews work performed by employees and maintains performance logs.
- Conducts disciplinary reviews and initiates responses up to and including suspensions.
- Review reports, ensure thoroughness and accuracy before signing off and closing.
- Monitor Access Control and ensure proper clearance is assign to employees
- Ensures compliance with regard to regulations.
- Provides supervision for the protection and transportation of funds in all areas of the facility.
- Assists with policy preparation and the implementation of procedures.
- Attends monthly meetings of Health and Safety Committee.
- Prepares payrolls, budget reports and human resources documents.
- Maintains personnel documents.
- Assists with safety inspections of dormitories and barns.
- Assists in conducting training programs for employees.
- Ensure only authorized persons are permitted entry to the facility.
- Maintains Stable are Personnel list.
- Ensure all Racing rules, regulations & policies are enforced.
- Supervise, direct, assist and participate in the application of reasonable physical force or restraint (including the use of handcuffs) in order to defend themselves and others or detain a person under lawful arrest.
Coordination Responsibilities
- Assists law enforcement agencies with investigations
- Participates and assists at special events
- Performs other duties that are dictated by conditions or situations
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Knowledge
- General knowledge of investigative procedures
- General knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal law
- General knowledge of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)
- General knowledge of Woodbine Entertainment rules
Skills
- Experience with PC network and associated business software
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in law and security, or law enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education, certification/accreditation, and/or relevant experience.
- Background in policing or 3+ years in with security or loss prevention experience
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment where there is little physical discomfort, due to
temperature, dust, noise and the like
- Moderate to high stress dealing with cross-functional teams, outside suppliers,
deadlines and the customers
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Occasional bending, carrying, climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing and reaching/crouching
- Regular interruptions, multiple demands and time pressure
- Various shift work, including evening, weekends and holidays, as required
- Valid G license and a vehicle to travel to multi-location WEG properties within Ontario, as required
