The purpose of this position is to lead, develop and direct an effective Food & Beverage Operations team, to develop business strategies that deliver on financial objectives and to design operational programs/policies that align the Food & Beverage Department with the goals and objectives of the organization.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:

1. Responsible for implementing the Food and Beverage strategy and plan, along with financial and people requirements at both Mohawk Park and Woodbine.

2. Further mature the matrix organization model so to enable an integrated and collaborative F&B service delivery model.

3. Takes and active role within the day-to-day operations of all Racing Restaurant Outlets. Leads and develops an effective Racing Food & Beverage Team that always strive for "Winning" guest experiences and to provide leadership and mentorship to Managers & Supervisors in the various operating departments (Racing, Gaming, Culinary, Warehouse/Receiving and Administration).

4. Works to build strong relationships with our priority guest segments (Horse Owners, Trainers, (WBC) Club Members, VIP Wagerers)

5. Identify ways to increase consistent, overall profitability generated through existing restaurant outlets and through new opportunities at both Woodbine & Mohawk Park

6. Supports, provides suggestions, and takes an active role with Food & Beverage, Business Transformation goals and objectives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Develop annual goals and objectives for the F&B Racing Department, ensuring that they are in line with the corporate strategy.

2. Hires, terminates, trains, and conducts performance management of managerial staff. Responsible for managing own priorities and objectives and the progress and planning of work for others.

3. Takes an active role in the development and management of annual operating budgets to ensure that the various operational activities are carried out in a cost-effective manner and within approved budgets.

4. Prepares annual operating and capital budgets for approval by Head of Food & Beverage

5. Plan for and implement effective strategies and programs that promote innovation, increase productivity and that encourage overall employee contribution to align with the objectives of the Racing F&B department.

6. Directs the procurement of food and beverages, equipment, and materials essential to the daily operation of the department.

7. Plan, evaluate and monitor Woodbine & Mohawk Park operations and financial areas within multiple locations to maximize sales and profitability through the efficient execution of established programs while adhering to WEG standards.

8. Lead teams that effectively follow and embrace all WEG values, policies, and procedures.

9. Ensures managers adhere to all applicable government regulations such as Health Act, Occupational Heath & Safety, the Environmental Protection Act, Liquor Licence Act and any departmental operational policies. Ensure that teams consistently and fairly apply and enforce compliance to such rules and regulations.

10. Partners with Human Resources Services in union negotiations and liaises with HRS in the interpretation and application of applicable collective agreement, employment, and applicable labour laws.

11. Work with their management teams to establish and implement training, coaching and employee development strategies.

12. Acts as the main point of contact for Racing Food & Beverage with other departments and collaborates on projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-10 years management experience relating to food and beverage management.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Culinary Management or Hospitality related field.
• Expert technical knowledge of food and beverage operations and management.
• Advanced knowledge of multi-unit operations.
• Advanced knowledge of related government acts and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of budgets and financial statements
• Advanced interpersonal, communication, leadership, organization, and management skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
• Ability to make sound decisions on non-routine issues while considering multiple variables and outcomes.
• Ability to retain composure while under pressure and while effectively diffusing difficult situations.
• Must be flexible and innovative.
• Ability to maintain and influence internal and external relationships.
