JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, Business System and Budgeting, the Recreation System Support Specialist is an integral part of the Recreation Services team, providing critical technical support and assistance to Recreation staff utilizing the Xplor Recreation system. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of recreation systems and is the first point of contact for resolving system-related issues, ensuring seamless program registration, facility booking, membership management, and accurate reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary contact for addressing technical questions, troubleshooting errors, and providing guidance on Xplor system processes to both recreation staff and internal customers.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of data within the Xplor system by meticulously managing program information, participant details, facility bookings, and membership records.
  • Generate comprehensive reports from the Xplor system to provide valuable insights into program participation, revenue generation, facility utilization, and membership trends.
  • Actively participate in system maintenance tasks, including updating program details, managing user accounts, and promptly resolving technical issues to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to new staff members, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively utilize the Xplor system.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Supervisor and other team members to identify and implement system enhancements, ensuring the Xplor system evolves to meet the department's changing needs.
  • Attend job-related meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor and other various administrative duties for Recreation as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience with recreation management software or similar systems is highly desirable. (Xplor/Perfectmind, ActiveNet, CLASS etc)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, strong aptitude for learning new software, and excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation, effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, and a proven track record of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of municipal recreation programs and services preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a part-time position with flexible hours based on department needs. Some evening and weekend availability will be required.
  • The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional interaction with staff and internal customers in various recreation settings.
