Job Description

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of work including the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in assigned area(s). Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes operational requirements of the systems monitored and controlled by the computerized building automation system (BAS).
  • Occasionally performs inspections, maintenance, repairs, and diagnostic duties on mechanical systems
  • Controls the daily operation of the computerized building automation system (BAS) and all functions of building systems and equipment
  • Supervises external contractors and technicians during projects being completed inside the facility
  • Reports to the Facility Manager and/or the Work Control Assistant on a regular basis. Works closely with either to establish operating goals, maintenance requirements and long-range projects
  • Monitors progress of projects, confers with contractors, and reviews work status to see that development is progressing according to schedule
  • Performs basic administrative tasks associated with the operation of the Engineering department
  • Performs tasks required to help successfully execute an event (electrical hook ups, lighting adjustments, etc.)
  • Performs other maintenance tasks as required (building repairs, painting, etc.)
  • Performs snow removal/landscaping
  • Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Performs general and preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Provides overall support for facilities operation.
  • Inspects, maintains and repairs building architectural/structural systems, furniture, furnishings and equipment (FF&E), and participates in construction and renovation projects.
  • Repairs doors and door hardware.
  • Inspects and repairs equipment such as audio/visual boxes, flagpoles, magnetic locks, etc.
  • Participates in the commissioning of new equipment and systems.
  • Operate Material Handling and Personnel Lifting Equipment.
  • Incumbent will adhere to the collective agreements in effect.
  • Know and comply with all ARAMARK and client policies and procedures regarding safety, security, and emergencies

Qualifications

  • HVAC experience is an asset.
  • At least 2-3 years of previous experience in a similar role is required
  • Must be able to do shift work
  • Successful applicant must possess at minimum completed high school education
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays when required
  • Required to complete a criminal background check prior to starting employment
  • Previous maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends


This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
