Pickering Casino Resort is seeking a Scheduling Supervisor!

Under the supervision Human Resources this position is responsible for handling day-to-day scheduling focusing on new and existing hires. Using information from site management, you will utilize computer software applications to schedule staff to meet operational needs, while ensuring that schedules are posted in a timely fashion. Inputting schedule changes and forward any time or schedule conflicts and staffing availability issues to operations for resolution. Working under Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) regulations and comply with all applicable laws, policies and procedures. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills and abilities, executing the following in support of the company's vision, mission and values:

  • Ensuring proper staffing levels by utilizing scheduling software applications to prepare the schedule & liaise with operating departments to ensure accuracy.
  • Lead a team of Schedulers and create shift rotations in accordance with company policies and collective agreement while ensuring operational requirements are met;
  • Monitoring time off requests and approvals for all hourly unionized and non-union team members.
  • Generate and create daily scheduling reports and cost analysis reports are required
  • Communicate any inconsistencies and scheduling concerns to management immediately and provide recommendations on schedule resolutions.
  • Scheduling of the table games department and other departments as assigned.
  • Tracking new hires by department to organize and register employees for training.
  • Manage the annual vacation scheduling preference processes for all employees
  • Creating reports as requested for internal and external departments
  • Responding to queries regarding vacation, lieu and other leave
  • Maintains and exercises a high degree of discretion and confidentiality in giving out information.
  • Meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • A secondary school diploma with related post-secondary education preferred, or comparable working experience in Human Resources
  • Experience of 2-3 + years in using scheduling software (VR is an asset)
  • Must have experience in a fast-paced high-volume environment
  • Must have experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Strong computer skills working with MS Office programs.
  • Working knowledge of computer software packages and HRIS (JDE is an asset)
  • Ability to deliver excellent guest service at all levels of the organization, and externally.
  • Possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Smart Serve Certification or the ability to achieve a Smart Serve Certification.
  • The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
