A permanent full-time position has become available in our Food & Beverage Catering department. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Catering, you are an enthusiastic, organized, service oriented individual who will support the day to day operations and functions of multiple food & beverage events including direct client and supplier management, food & beverage event planning and revenue forecasting through to the successful completion of the event. This exciting and engaging client focused role is best suited to a highly organized, outgoing, welcoming and collaborative individual. Working closely with other teams and independently when needed. Flexible hours including some evenings and weekends are required. The ideal candidate has some food & beverage and/or event planning experience and is now ready to expand their skill set within a high volume operation.

Job Description

  • Support the Catering Managers and Catering Department with various administrative and event related tasks to ensure successful planning and execution of all food & beverage events.
  • Coordinate all aspects of assigned food & beverage functions and internal events from initial client contact through to the successful completion of the event.
  • Manage catering data entry into the Centre's operations computer system.
  • Guide clients through the event and food & beverage planning process within the Centre.
  • Manage all aspects of new assigned Internal Events from start to finish.
  • Connect with internal clients to obtain event details, requirements and expectations.
  • Advise on appropriate set-up, floorplans, AV, food & beverage, floral, décor, etc.
  • Coordinate with Kitchen regarding custom menu requests, special dietary requirements.
  • Prepare food & beverage event plans for client events.
  • Provide event day-of support and communicate any last minute changes/additions with all departments.
  • Close event for invoicing and record any observations and feedback for future occurrence of the event.
  • Ensure clarity in all communications with stakeholders, both internal and external.

Job Skills and Requirements

Education: Hospitality Management Certificate or a Degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience

Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) skills are essential. Familiarity with other catering/event management software helpful
  • Detail oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Numeracy and financial competence required
  • Knowledge of event management computer systems would be an asset
