Director, Project Management Office, High Value Payments/ Regulatory & Business Initiatives

Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Regulatory and Business Initiatives Group globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of Global Banking and Markets business strategies and objectives and in compliance with all relevant regulations. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You'll Do:

  • Accountable for overall project management of Payments initiative - BESS replacement, including operational transformation workstreams.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Build understanding of Bank's risk appetite and risk culture to make effective decisions.
  • Lead end to end delivery planning of assigned project(s) like ideation / interpretation of regulatory rules, business case approval, establish project governance, implementation plan and transition to BAU including budgeting & resourcing.
  • Influence the decision-making process to ensure alignment to business priorities, strategic technology architecture and resource allocation for assigned project(s).
  • Work collaboratively with product owners and operations leads to help define best practices and drive transformational change, coordinating stakeholders and change leads to implement new processes as part of operational readiness activities.
  • Provide decision support including steering committee content that position strategic solutions developed by the broader team to achieve desired outcomes that align with the overall business strategy
  • Manage governance forums as required with primarily business stakeholders, technology partners and other support functions.
  • Responsible for interactions with all key stakeholders from business, risk, operations & technology teams including stakeholders in different geographic locations.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree level or above education, ideally in a legal, financial or political subject
  • Must have experience in payments
  • Must have experience in capital markets regulatory initiatives project management
  • Familiarity working within change management programs
  • Experience of managing senior stakeholders / running meetings/ preparing presentations
  • Knowledge of the global regulatory framework
  • Experience of interacting with the regulators on regulatory matters (OSFI, IIROC, FCA, PRA, FRBNY)

Work Arrangement:

The Project Manager works in a professional office environment. The work load is demanding and subject to frequent time pressure, with a steady flow of legislative/regulatory initiatives and examination reports, both internal and external, which carry specific deadlines. Workload is subject to continual prioritization due to incoming requests from regulators and internal departments.
