Role Description

Located in the Greater Toronto Area, Assembly Park spans a whopping 83 acres, equal to almost a quarter of the larger Vaughan Metropolitan Centre or VMC. At the end of the day, this will be a dynamic, mixed-use, master-planned community rich in diverse and modern housing options; compelling entertainment, shopping and dining choices; state-of-the-art offices; new performing arts centre; and, an extensive network of lush parkland and communal park spaces. With an emphasis on creative expression and innovation, Assembly Park won't just serve as the city's new creative district . . . a place where art and culture and community collide . . . Assembly Park is destined to become the actual soul of the VMC.

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Retail National Marketing, this position is responsible for the overall planning and execution of marketing activities designed to raise awareness of the Assembly Park brand.

As a Marketing Manager at Assembly Park, You Will:

  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day marketing efforts of Assembly Park.

  • Prepare an annual strategic marketing plan outlining short- and long-term strategies for all aspects of the marketing portfolio including traditional and non-traditional media, public relations, special events, social media, interactive, etc.

  • Prepare and manage the annual marketing budget including creating support schedules, coding and processing payables, processing expenses, analyzing variances, being in a position to report on the budget as requested, etc.

  • Plan and execute community-based events including developing event concepts and timelines, securing sponsors, hiring vendors, completing requisite insurance-related paperwork, preparing event post-mortems, etc.

  • Stickhandle all external requests to host events on our property including vetting proposals to ensure fit, executional alignment, licence agreements and ensuring COI requirements are met etc.

  • Coordinate the production of all marketing materials, signage, etc.

  • Ensure the website is up-to-date at all times.

  • Ultimate responsibility for Assembly Park's digital footprint, including but not limited to the management of social channels including content strategy and planning, social listening and response, ongoing tracking and reporting; as well as property website and digital marketing initiatives

  • Coordinate public relations efforts with external agency.

  • Foster positive partner, tenant, community and philanthropic relationships.

  • Support leasing with the creation of leasing materials.

  • Work hand-in-glove with other management staff and employees.

  • Participate in regular marketing meetings, staff meetings, one-on-one retailer meetings, agency briefings, joint venture partner meetings, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Note that this person is also responsible for the following as it relates to other open centres in the retail portfolio:

  • Ensure the Dorval Crossing West, Meadowvale and Credit Landing websites are up-to-date at all times.

  • Ensure that the National Hoarding and Hoarding Graphics Program is adhered to at all properties.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Superior oral and written communication skills (specifically, editing and copywriting).

  • Proven social media experience.

  • Proven experience managing digital advertising campaigns

  • Out-of-the-box thinker with proven creative and innovative approach to doing things.

  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and a positive, "can do" attitude.

  • Ability to work under pressure as well as, work independently.

  • Event planning and execution experience mandatory.

  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines.

  • Advanced MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or Business preferred.

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years marketing/communications experience.

*This is a full time, onsite position with an office at Commerce Court West and at Assembly Park in Vaughn. Periodic travel to the other open centres (Dorval Crossing West, Credit Landing, Meadowvale) is required. Note that due to the nature of special events, some evening and weekend work is also required.
